Nutrition for New and Expecting Parents

Bringing a child into the world is a truly miraculous experience. As breathtaking as it is, too many moms suffer from health complaints and complications at many steps of the way: from struggling to get pregnant in the first place, to blood pressure and blood sugar concerns, birthing challenges, and postpartum depression. When the baby arrives, the intense responsibility of caring for a newborn on top of mom’s health needs can be overwhelming.

That's why, in honor of Women's Health Month, Plant Powered Metro New York is excited to present a special series of nutrition and cooking classes geared for adults navigating this crucial time of life: the award-winning Food for Life program, created by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine.

These classes are for:
  • Moms (before, during, and after pregnancy) and their partners
  • Caregivers of young children
  • Obstetric health professionals (doulas, midwives, and OB clinicians)
These four-week courses are completely FREE and blend motivational nutrition education with cooking instruction. You'll learn how to prepare delicious plant-based meals that can prevent and treat gestational and type 2 diabetes, naturally reduce blood pressure, help you achieve or maintain a healthy weight, and feed children for a healthy start.

Choose from an in-person class in East Harlem that starts in mid-April (you’ll be able to taste the food!), or a virtual class starting in May.
If you register, please plan to participate in all sessions!
